Update: Flying Cars

OK it's 2012. There was suppose to be flying cars now. Where the Hell are they? This Moller Skycar isn't it. It's still a plane, if that. But when I saw a diecast one by Motormax well, I had to have a "flying car" in the museum. I like the design of Supercar of the old TV show better. Both are still fantasies.

I went to a Toy Show in San Antonio on Saturday and brought home some new additions to the Museum. I'm digging the Elvis Dream Cadillac. 3 of these cars are extras because I forgot I had them so maybe I'll sell them. The Johnny Lightning Vette and Oldsmobile and the M2 Studebaker.

Muscle Machines are Coming Back!

In case you haven't heard, Muscle Machines are coming back. Maisto has bought the rights, tools and hired the original artist back. And in case you have a need to do the research on the old line, let me remind you that I have on the site a complete list of all 71 of the original designs. I will endeavor to fill in the missing pictures in the next week or so.

VP of Procurement for the Super Happy Funtime Virtual Diecast Museum, David Leary received a certificate of appreciation Thursday evening to "thank him" for his tireless pursuit in obtaining new diecast exhibits. He was recognized for his years of service to the cause, for all of the hours that he has logged, all of his travel time and for studying the toy stocking habits of various places of business.The award ceremony was held at Tops Pizza in Kerrville, Texas. The CEO and self titled “Master Hoarder” Steven Leary, presented the award to his collegue David and also purchased his meal. Also in attendance were Cheryl Leary and Lara Snyder.

Since I had it out of the box I decided to reshoot the Thunderburners and add two more not pictured originally and give them their own page. You can tell that the Thunderbird section of my site was one of the first ones built since it is so rough around the edges. :)

I was going to shoot another Video Racer video but then the whole job thing kind of got in the way so I shot 2 redlines racing on a track. These are cars from my childhood. My brother and I raced the Holy Hell out of these and others. This year I finally got around to ordering some repro parts for them. A new boat for the Seasider and a new front right hub cap for the Ambulance. Wheeeee!

BTW, I also added a new pic on the Facebook page.

Hot Wheels Video Racer

I got a Hot Wheels Video Racer a couple of days ago (A special Thanks to Stacey), so today I started playing with it and shot some video. If you don't know what it is, it's basically a usb drive and video camera in a Hot Wheel car. Here's a picture of it.

It's a pretty neat little gizmo, but I didn't have too much time to experiment with it. I just shot a few seconds of video with it but now I know what it would look like if you are in a Hot Wheel car driving on an orange track. I will definitely do more in the future. In the meantime check it out.

Went to the Beach...

Howdy, folks! I just spent last week on a beach near Galveston Texas and all I found when I took a break from the sand and surf was this Bendy Bus at a Target. (Pictured here on a shelf at the house I stayed in.) It is a bus but it is sold in the Hot Wheels train packaging. I thought it was a New York Subway train. It didn't help with that misidentification since it was packaged backwards. Take a look when you see one in the wild. Enjoy.

Hi. Well, I was trying to finish a large download and then tell you about it with a big unveiling but I just haven't the time. I took about 130 new pictures of the Nissans a week and a half ago and I'm processing them and adding them to the site. The Nissans now have their own section with 3 subsections. The "Z" Cars have their own section and the trucks and vans have split off as well. Keep checking back because they will continue to grow.

I was at Walmart yesterday and I found this model by Matchbox. The Buffalo MPCV. This is an awesome model of a cool military vehicle with lots of details and I'm glad Matchbox chose to produce this so it can live in my little 1/64 world. I also found a Maisto Chevy Volt. I didn't plan this, but as I was updating the Ford Miscellaneous section I realized that I had a diverse collection of Ford Focuses. So they graduated to their own section. I do believe this is the only place you can see this many 1/64 scale focuses on the internet on one page. Here's the link. And speaking of the Ford Focus, does anyone out there have one? Is it nice? Space Shuttle

The Space Shuttle Atlantis took off this morning on the last flight of the Space Shuttle program. So I thought I'd post a couple pics of the Shuttles I have in my fleet. Pictured here is a Siku Shuttle. I don't know why it's missing its windshield glass. Error or intentional? A Corgi Shuttle can be seen on museum Facebook page.

Update: Muscle Machine Edsel

One of the updates I did this week was this Muscle Machine Edsel. Now, on the site I've set the Muscle Machine page up a little differently. When I was researching the brand I couldn't find a straight forward casting listing. So with a little help from the fine forum folks at Joe's Diecast Shack, I made this list and have posted it on my site.
How is it different from my other pages? I only show one representative of the casting and no variations. It should be complete but if it isn't, let me know. The only problem now is that I need to finish taking the pictures for it.

I added about 12 pics of Camaros to the Camaro sections, like this Jada. Lot's of other single pics got uploaded like a couple of Hot Wheels Chryslers 300s to name a few. Also, some of the Pizza Delivery Vehicle pics got replaced with better photos. You can tell they were some of the first pics I took back in 2007 because they are not that great. I will eventually redo them all.

Cadillac Seville in Small Scale

I was gifted the Tomica last week from a friend and it made me wonder how many Seville's I had in Small Scale. Not too many it turns out. The first two are the Second Generation that had that interesting trunk design and the Tootsietoy is a fourth generation Seville STS. Maisto apparently made a fifth generation one but had to change it into a generic design because of copyright issues. Here's the wikipedia article if you want to read more. I'll post the single shots in the Cadillac section in the next couple of days.

Just added this pic of the new Matchbox Lesney Edition Chevy Blazer 4x4. The GMC pickup also came out with this release. Both are really sweet. Applause for the toy makers.

Triumphs

With the new release of the Hot Wheels Triumph TR6, it occurred to me that I didn't have any Triumphs represented in the museum. So I shot and posted some pics. I put up the Hot Wheel variations I have and some JL TR3s. Somewhere I have a Majorette TR7 and a Tootsietoy but I couldn't put my hands on them easily so those will have to wait for a future update. And, since I was shooting pics anyway, I added some JL Austin-Healey Sprites like the blue one pictured here. Enjoy.

Howdy. For the last few days I've been uploading a bunch of miscellaneous stuff to the site. Some Cougars, a couple of Corvettes and so forth. But I thought I'd post this picture of the 8 Crate since it looks like it could be part of Halloween. I bought the Hot Wheels Halloween cars but I haven't opened them yet. I guess I should and then post pictures in case you haven't seen them yet. :)

Update: Mini Coopers!

A friend of mine decided to start collection Mini Coopers so I decided to post most of my collection for her to reference. I needed to do it anyway since I only had a few up. So what I did was give them their own category since it has been produced under different names and companies. Here is the wikipedia article on the original Mini that talks about it's history.
I organized them a little differently than I usually do as well. I mixed the original and the new mini's together and alpahbetized them according to toy manufacturer. I still gave the bigger variation collections their own pages. Just click on the pics with the variation icon underneath the photo. All in all, I posted about 50 new pics. The picture shown with this post shows a Hot Wheels Racing Mini with the 1970s Matchbox one that I had as a kid. One of my favorites. It use to beat a lot of Hot Wheels in races. :) Enjoy!

Hot Wheels just released this Buzz Lightyear car in their Toy Story 3 set. But did you know ol Buzz had a 1/64 ride in 2002? It was produced by Hasbro and badged by Disney as the Disney Wild Racers. They came in 2 packs, sometimes with a villian. In this case a car based on The Evil Zurg. Each car had a plastic license plate with specs. The Buzz Lightyear figure in the pic is from the Hot Wheels Toy Story Action Pack that featured Big Al's car. Click on the picture to see it bigger.

I uploaded the variations I own to the Lotus section of my site. 5 total. I love how Matchbox did both basic body types of the Lotus Europa. It took 40 years but they did it. Click on the pic to make it bigger.
I didn't know much about this car so I looked it up on Wikipedia and a Lotus Europa website. Too much info to put here but If you're curious I provided the links for you.
I would like to Thank Mark in the UK for the generous donation of the 1969 model.

OK. Just a couple of quick uploads. 2 Hot Wheel Lamborghinis. A Diablo that I found in a flea market for 50 cents a couple of months ago and a Murciélago. And 2 Hot Wheels Nissans. A 350Z Tuner and a S-15. The HW Murciélago's have their own page now.

Torino Show!

Heres a pic I shot in my office back in about 2005. I had a really nice case where I could display these.
I have of course added some to my collection since then, like the ‘69 Ford Torino Talladega from Hot Wheels, a 1972 Ford Torino Sport from JL and M2 made a really nice 1970 Ford Torino GT. Maybe I should give then their own page.

Hey there viewers. Today's update are 3 new BMW pics. I know I need to sit down and shoot all my BMWs since this is just a handful, but then I need to do a lot of things. I think Maisto did a good job on this one and the X6.
